I'm, also from NY (Queens). So I know about traffic. Although it may not be as bad as NYC traffic, there still if heavy traffic. And it is only getting worse.

Get ready for the traffic jams and the Dade County honk!! But, one thing about Dade and Broward you can use multiple back streets to get to most locations. Make sure you have a job lined up. Hope everything works out for you

I will also 2nd that... NYC has worse traffic and craziest drivers. Only place worse was when I was in SaoPaulo Brazil, thats just insane. But south Fla traffic is no picnic either.

It depends what part of South FL. Broward County has medium traffic. Dade has very bad traffic right up there with any big city. Palm Beach County has virtually no traffic other than an occasional accident on I-95.

Another tidbit- According to a 2009 US News and World Report article, I-95 in Florida ranks as the most dangerous road for fatalities in the U.S.
