Don't forget the cost of your monthly HOA dues. That plus a mortgage can quickly exceed rental costs.

To think of it... there are no bad neighborhoods in SW Ranches either.

But yes, SW Ranches is pricey, although you get a lot of land with your house there.

In Weston, Savanna is a great development. I lived there for 10 years.

We are now renting a townhouse in Courtyard at the Grove (which is 5 min from Cleveland Clinic), and it is a very nice townhouse development.

I don't think there are any big health problems from high voltage power lines (in Monterra).

But the look alone is a big turn off for me.

I concur with Ruski on all counts. There are no bad areas of SW Ranches. But if the OPs price range is $200's they can forget that.

I also lived in Savanna for 10 years. It was a lovely place to live. I am not sure what the prices are there now but I am thinking single family homes in the upper $200s might be available. Despite what the media says about FL real estate values in Weston are pretty stable and the area remains desireable. We sold our house in Savanna last year in a few days.

Most of the townhome developments in Weston are lovely and none are very far from CC.

Ours in Savanna was a short sale. Still $450K. Took 2 months. But that's for a 5 bedrooms and 4 full baths.

It may be possible to find a smaller house on short sale or foreclosure for quite a bit less.

Ours was NOT a short sale or foreclosure and I am sure that is why it sold so quickly. It was a 5/5.

Thanks All.

What is the best way to ask for a rebate on the 3% commission that the buyer agent gets? I know this is very common up north in NY, DC and NC areas.
