[SIZE=2]i called to schedule a move out date and they told me i have to give them 60 days notice even though my lease is up; the leasing office told me they will send me to collections if i move out; I have a reason to move out of my apartment since the building only has valet parking and they wreck my car a month ago and I had to pay out of my pocket to get it fix
is there anything i can do?

A condition in your lease is that you probably had to give the leasing office 60 days notice prior to moving out, otherwise they will put you on a month to month tenancy (which is probably what they did).

im having the exact same problem... i was hoping to get some answers i tried finding something in the tenant/landlord handbook but was unsuccessful.. also i cant locate my lease to reread.....ugh

I had this same issue to and was basically forced to re-sign my lease for 1 more year to avoid being charged 1 extra month's rent. Most rental communities in the Fort Lauderdale area have this condition in their lease. They want reasonable notice so that they can re-rent your unit right after you move out. There is nothing you can do about it once the lease is signed. In fact, most places will not even negotiate that part of the lease before signing.
