What are the friendliest cities in South Florida? (Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County) (Orlando: how much, living)

I don't know what friendly means, but the nicest and most central city is probably Lighthouse Point, Fl.

I absolutely believe this is a Florida thing. I have been so pleasantly amazed after moving from Davie to North Carolina. Everyone here is courteous, friendly, outgoing. If your walking your dog, the jogger says hello. If your pulling out of a shopping mall, the car in traffic will stop to let you out of the plaza. If you are in the drive through, the cashier smiles and says have a good day. Dont be fooled, you optimistic people. Florida is horrible when it comes to the way people behave. I am coming back for 2 days this weekend, and I would love to be proven wrong, but I know i'll be going home thanking my lucky stars that i'm not raising my family in hell.

It's not a Florida thing, it's a South Florida thing. I've been to North and West FL and been treated very nice by the locals. It's only down here I get all the attitude and it's mainly due to people who move here from larger cities who move here with their "street" attitude that is needed in a larger city, and it comes off as rude. Then you got people who aren't from here, who don't know our ways and they don't say thank you, or hello because they may not understand, or care. Then like all cities, you got the people who just honestly don't care.

I've been here for 20 years, when I was a kid it was better then this, people for the most part where nice. Now, I do see alot more rude people. They don't say thank you when you hold the door, they don't help you in the street when you ask, they just cut in traffic without any warning. It's annoying for the most part, but some of us are still nice, it's just becoming very hard to find these nice people.

I disagree with the first part. Central FL isn't much better. NW Florida is the only "friendly" part of Florida where people say hello to strangers in elevators and where drivers let you go instead of cutting you off. I lived in Tallahassee for college and experienced this first hand. It is like a different universe. You don't get that feel in Orlando or Tampa or even Jacksonville. The funny thing is, people in the South are overly nice to the point where it gets to be fake. It drove me nuts sometimes.

Everything else you said makes sense though. Overall, I wish people were friendlier here but like you said it stems from transplants moving from larger cities in the Northeast where people are street-wise. Now, South Fl has become a large city in itself where you have to be street-wise to survive. People are paranoid when a stranger approaches them. They think they want something from them. In many cases, their paranoid ways are warranted since we have a lot of scam artists and other types of riff-raff here.

I wont go into our feelings of waxhaw however I have to disagree..People aren't overally nice there either..they are very materialistic, and Phony as We lived there for over 2.5 years and we have met such nice people here and not just where we live...My kids are very active so we have all met people that were very welcoming...There are rude people Everywhere...People were nicer in NJ than they were in NC...so I really think it depends..We have made some great friends here!!

There are rude people everywhere, true. But there are few other places where people literally run your over in public like you see in Miami often. Miami is really a lot worse than the rest of South FL. People do not respect your personal space in public and they run you off the road on the highway. Cut you off on I-95, etc. It is really out of control down there. I love Miami and lived there in the past. But one thing I DO NOT like is how many of the people are so rude.

Drivers are pretty bad in south Florida. Between the 3 counties, Miami is the worst and palm beach has less rude drivers than the other 2

No one really says hi but you do see more common courtesy starting from pompano and heading North. The exceptions are the retirement areas like delray beAch this weekend I was there and I just saw a bunch of seniors fighting. One even called the other stupid because she was cutting the line

Orlando, Naples, Ft Myers and Tampa have better drivers but no one says hi to strangers. In Jacksonville I've seen many people do that.
