I'm considering taking a job near this area. What are some of the better areas to live ? I have about 350K for a single 3/2 and would like a good public elemetary school in that area. Possibley gated? I'm willing to drive 15 -20 min commute daily

Thank you

Personally, I think there are plenty of threads that have the information you are looking for. If you want more specific answers then I suggest providing more details in your question.

There's nothing wrong with the Welleby area off of 94th and Oakland.

I would strongly suggest looking a few miles south in Plantation (between 595 and Sunrise Blvd). 350K should get you a nice house in the area... You can even stretch for a 4 bed home and/or one with a pool.

Plantation would probably be your best bet. The northern part of Plantation Acres is not gated but would have homes in your price range. You could also look in Jacaranda Lakes which is not gated, but very nice. Jacaranda Cove and Fountain Springs are also worth looking at.

The elementary in the western part of Plantation is very good. Middle/high options are less attractive.

Edited to add: There are some gated communities in the area. I happen to like Jacaranda Lakes and the northern part of Plantation Acres more than the gated communities.

Thanks for the replies. What about commuting to Weston from Oakland and Pine Island? What are the better gated communties for around $350-$400K ?
