I'm curious as to see if anyone has rented in the ft lauderdale area and could provide me with the nicer areas and younger crowd? When i say nicer i don't mean necessarly safer that doesn't bother me much, just around plenty of things. I'll be moving there in january, i'm 22 and looking for a nice area near the beach with plenty to do. Not looking to spend more than 1300 on a 1bed/1bath. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

We rented in North Lauderdale a while back which is away from the main areas and we paid about $800 for a two bedroom. I think you should be able to find something in the $1300 range. The nicest areas tend to be around Las Olas Blvd albeit it is also touristy. Check out Himmarshe for something slightly off-beat but right in the heart of things. The gay areas are near Wilton Manors. The area around Andrews and 17th, which used to be mostly business has also recently seem residential projects. There's plenty to do all around Broward. The South Florida Young Adults Meetup group is huge so I suggest you join that and starting pinging the members for advice.
