Hi!

My husband and I are interested in relocating to Florida over the summer. I am currently a 4th grade teacher. This is my first year teaching. I have a masters degree and have achieved certification in Delaware. What does the job market look like for teachers? Is one area better than any others? We are also considering Tampa. He wants to be on the east coast of Florida and I want to be on the west, but I will go where the job market looks best. Any help you can provide will be appreciated!! We had considered NYC and DC, but decided we wanted to go south for the weather and culture.

Thanks in advance!!

I am not a teacher but I do know a few who teach in the Broward school system (South FL-Ft. Lauderdale vicinity). I also am familiar with Broward schools as my daughter did attend a Broward public school for 6 yrs.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in the past few years and this upcoming one is no exception there have been major cuts and lay-offs in all of the Broward public schools. I wouldn't recommend a move here if that's an important factor unless you are open to teaching private school as well. Although I'm not too sure what the market holds there either (but I do know they will be hiring a few teachers at my daughter's school).

Not sure how it is in central FL or North FL. You may want to investigate those areas more thoroughly.
