also depends on what type of car you drive, you know Geo Metro vs a Corvette - a big difference.

Wow...how could the guy above pay $75 a month for an individual car while you pay $300 a month for a car?

Mike, Insurance premiums vary widely from one person to the next. What other people are paying for auto insurance has nothing to do with what you will be paying for auto insurance.

Do you want the number of an insurance agent?

Check with AAA Auto Insurance in the area. They can search for quotes from various companies for you. I got the cheapest quotes from Met Life and Travelers. I saved a lot by paying the entire year up front with Met Life. I was with Allstate and paid $1186 per year. Now I pay $546 per year through Met Life for the same coverage. What a savings, huh?

Huh? I don't get $500 back. That is my deductible if there is an accident. Normally the higher your deductible, the less you pay. Some have it with no deductible. That increases your monthly payments.

I drive an 06 Dodge Magnum and wifey a brand new Sonata. So no Geo's here.

USAA just has great prices as well as great service. I've tried to find a cheaper insurance company to no avail. Many of them quote me double or nearly triple to what I pay with USAA keeping my same options.

Many of these insurance companies will tell you to not bother if you are looking to switch from USAA.

I think shopping around to get a quote could help you since everybody's situation is different. But as others said, insurance premiums in South Florida in general are very high. My full coverage almost doubled ($130 a month) to what I had in Midwest ($85 a month). As soon as I paid my car loan I switched to minimum coverage (of course with uninsured coverage, but still pay about $65 a month). A lot of insurance companies offer discount if you pay a lump sum for six months.
