Hi everyone!

I am moving from Chicago to Broward County, FL in December. I am currently set on moving to the Tivoli Park apts in Deerfield Beach. It is great for my price range of no more than $950 for a 2 bedroom. The pictures online of the complex look great! However, I have read a bunch of negative reviews of Tivoli Park. I'm wondering why this is?

I would like to hear some of your opinions. Many of the reviews I've read have low intelligent writing like "it sucks" or "it is ghetto". I currently live in Chicago... 1/2 of a mile from the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's west side... this area is really the definition of a ghetto as it has 50-100 homicides a year in a tiny 1 1/2 mile wide area, as well as heroin dealers on many corners catering to the drug addicts of the many Chicago suburbs who drive to the city to buy their heroin. I'm not naive in thinking Deerfield Beach has no bad areas, but you can't call it "ghetto" or compare it to the west side of Chicago... one of the worst neighborhoods in the United States.

I am a 31 year old single, white male. Do you think the Tivoli Park Apartments would be a good choice for me? I've read a review that says the pools are unusable due to their lack of cleanliness, is this true? Any other info about this complex you could give me would be great!

Also, my family has a time share in the south end of Boca Raton. Me and/or my family have vacationed here every year since 1991, so I am extemely familiar with the area. I'm just not familiar with this complex.

Thanks so much for any info you can give!

Hi,
I think you'll be fine. I used to visit my cousin when she lived in those apartments in the 90's. I was a lil kid, I don't remember much, ha! With that being said, I drive by there all the time...it's a nice area. Nothing compared to Chicago's West side. It's right by a Cracker Barrel and a Brandmart (that's all you need, ha). You'll be fine!

The area is pretty bad. Not as bad as the neighborhood you describe in Chicago, or South Central LA, or Opa Locka in Miami. But still is a rough area. Why would you want to move from Chicago to South FL just to live in an area that is almost but not quite as bad as Chicago? Why not look for a good area?

It is on the northern fringe of Pompano Beach which is really really bad.

No, you were not living under a rock, the place from everything I heard was not too bad back in the 90's. It is just a bad, scroungy area now days. That is what happens to about every low rent place in S. FL.

I drive by it like almost everyday on 95. In fact, u can see the actual apartments from 95.

It's not that great to be honest. I dont think they're horrible, buuuut, i never really knew anyone besides college kids that lived there attending FAU, so I would go there in college mostly to buy pot and underage drink lol....

those were the days...

anyway, yeah its not exactly nice, but it'll do i suppose.

It is one of those places that looks ok on the outside, but is filled up with low rent tenants and probably lots of home invasion burglaries, car burglaries, and drug activity there. The area around the complex is downright bad.
