Hi all,
I read some posts about traffic in Weston. For traveling South, is Ridges the best to get in and out? Can you suggest any other nice subdivision like Ridge?
Thanks a lot!!!

Emerald Estates, Patio Homes/Executive Homes/Country Isles, Windmill Ranch, all are as easy and maybe easier than the Ridges. Emerald Estates has an exit right onto Weston Road.

How far "south"?

Some major points of reference assuming no accidents, peak rush hour.

Doral (41st street area near turnpike)- 25 minutes.

Doral (36th street area near the Palmetto)- 45 minutes

Downtown Miami- Over an hour

Miramar business parks near 75- 10-15 minutes

I-75 is generally a 70 MPH cruise with a small bottleneck around Miramar Parkway to about 40 MPH. The turnpike is smooth all the way through to Doral. This is assuming no accidents, of course. It's mainly the 826, 836 that you would have to worry about.

Isles of Weston.

Quick dash to State Route 27, take SR27 South to FL Turnpike (they meet south of Miramar), from there it is a piece of cake to Doral and Tamiami.

Actually, you wouldn't take I-75 to go there. Pick any community in Weston that you like, and take US 27 down south to Krome Avenue, there is almost never traffic and that would be about a 40 minute straight shot. If Krome Avenue is ever closed, you could just meet the turnpike from US 27 as Ruski suggested, where you would have a mostly smooth ride until just south of the 836, which is only about a mile or so of every day traffic.

Thanks for the replies...
I am a bit confused, since what I have heard until now suggests between 45-90 minutes.
Is there anyone regularly traveling South from Weston who can help me?
We are leaning towards Kendall/Palmetto Bay now just because of the commute. However, I am not sure whether that would be less than 45 minutes of commute
Decisions, decisions...

Traveling into downtown Miami can take anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. My husband has done it for 3 years from Weston. Because you are working on the Western part of Miami the traffic should be better. Live in the Southwestern end of Weston if you want the shortest commute from Weston. But I think you could live anywhere in the town and be fine.
We thought about living in Palmetto Bay also. I liked the fact that the yards were larger but from what I remember, getting to a store or anywhere could be a pain. Everything seemed to be out on US 1. And for my husband traffic would be almost as bad. Even though my husband has a crappy commute, we are happy we moved to Weston. It just works for our family.
