I may be buying a 1bed/2bath condo in Palm-Aire for around the mid 50k range. It's in good condition and needs very little work, which is all cosmetic. My budget is tight. Do you think its a smart investmnt?

What are you going to do with this property?

I'll be inetersted in seeing the responses to this. As I am very interested in buying a 1 bedroom condo in south FLA for around the same price. Ive been thinking about it for a while now.

Just a 1 bedroom condo. Palm Aire is a relatively nice sub-division. I used to visit a friend who lived there. However, the surrounding areas of Palm Aire are just ehhh. It's not bad, but its not all that glamorous either.

They keep Palm Aire nicely landscaped and attractive, so thats nice.

I have always thought of Palm Aire as a bubble. Inside of the bubble is nice, but outside of the bubble is really bad. It is actually worse than you think in the outer areas. The area of Pompano Beach on Atlantic Blvd and to the north of Atlantic is knows as the highest crime area of Broward County.

I would also beware that Palm Aire is an aging community that used to be a retirement community, but in recent years has begun to allow people of all ages to live there. I would do some research on the types of tenants they allow.

Well you have to understand that I lived right in the thick of NYC and Philadelphia my whole life. I am not accustomed to living the high-life, so a little bit of a bad surrounding is no big deal to me. And like you said, it like a bubble within a bubble—I think of Palm-Aire as more of a neighborhood than a complex.

Optimus, I would encourage. The bank did a thorough financial investigation and came out virtually flawless so they approved a mortgage with 20% down. visit Listings of Condominiums for sale in Palm Aire - presented by Wieder Realty to see what available. I am sure there are more.
