What is Sunrise Florida like? I see some jobs that I might apply to, I am JAX now and new to the state.

Can someone give a break down, I have done some googling already. But what do the locals think?

Great shopping. Home of Sawgrass Mill (Mall?). One of world's best discount outlets. Google Sawgrass and get an idea of what shops are there. Mind blowing and exhausting. Town is has numerous two story garden apartments and lots of middle class homes. Another suburban town.

Sunrise is a very boring large suburbia with lots of middle class housing communities and some rougher parts on the eastern edge of town east of University Drive. The main attraction there is the Sawgrass Mills shopping mall and the abundance of stores, hotels, and restaurants around the mall. If you enjoy shopping until you drop, you will love it there. Otherwise, it is a bedroom suburb where people commute elsewhere for jobs. The schools are good there.

Are you single? Married? have kids? If you are single, there are better places to live.

It is mostly English speaking, but you'll hear lots of Spanish. There is a large Spanish population there. The good thing about Sunrise is there are tons of newer apartment communities with cheaper rents than further east.

I avoid the Sawgrass Mills mall at all costs, unless I need to buy shoes. They have every shoe outlet known to man and you can usually get far lower prices for good quality shoes than the other malls. Otherwise, I rarely find anything good there and going there is a gigantic mission. The crowds of tourists are overwhelming and parking is a nightmare. Aventura is a much better, bigger mall, although more expensive and upscale.

Sawgrass is fascinating for a tourists going there for the first time, but you'll get bored of it quickly. How many times can you go to a mall? That is no reason to live somewhere.
