I have an opportunity for a promotion that would require me to commute from the Sawgrass area in Sunrise to Miami. It would be a 15% increase in salary plus, if I take public transportation, a $200 per month stipend to offset the commuting cost. I can work a flexible shift to reduce the commute time, i.e. 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.

What are my best options for commuting?

We are renting now, but will be looking to buy in 12 to 18 months. We like the Sunrise/Plantation area. But we would consider moving somewhere more commuter friendly in Broward.

Any thoughts on communities we might consider moving to which have a similar, suburban, safe vibe? Schools are not a consideration.

Where in Miami? If it's downtown, there is a new, rush hour express bus that will soon be heading straight to Government Center from the Bank Atlantic Center, and currently a route exists from Markham Park, not far from the Sawgrass area. They are pretty speedy (utilizes the 95 express lanes), comfortable and WiFi equipped.

Here is more information...

95 Express

Looks like you would have to depart from CB Smith Park for a little while...not a horrible drive, just a school zone to pass through on Flamingo by McCarthy and Pembroke Pines Charter.
