Hello everybody

Currently we live in Sunny Isles but for one thing or another we want to move into Broward, one of the main reasons is to get access to a superior school system.

We are looking at the Davie and Hollywood and Victoria Park areas but would also consider other areas. We are particularly interested in an excellent elementary school for our 5yr old boy. Our boy has a very high IQ but his attention span and ability to focus or listen isn’t established yet so I believe he needs particularly skilled tutoring.

However, we are not too keen on those really quite suburban neighbors.
So we are looking for recommendations.

The plan is for us to rent initially until we a comfortable with the neighborhood and then buy.

The private schools seem expensive and we know there are some highly rates schools in the public system. Does anybody have any personal recommendations?

Thanks very much

Victoria Park is not suburban. Make sure you find out the middle and high schools in addition to elementary. There are many areas of Broward County that have great elementary schools that feed into terrible middle and high schools.

Virginia Shuman Montessori (magnet school) is very highly rated and I understand that there is a preference for residents who live in its "zone" in Victoria Park.

Beachside Montessori is a new magnet school located in East Hollywood, and I think it is easier to gain admission there than at Shuman. I believe that Hollywood residents have preference for admission.

Forbes magazine rated the schools in Parkland #1 in the US. If that is out of your price range then Coral Springs is the next best and some of the CS neighborhoods which go to the Parkland High School hold their value for that reason.
