I'm moving to Ft Lauderdale and am looking for safe areas. I saw a place in Victoria Park that I like and was hoping if anyone who lives there would know if this is a safe area or not. It's located on NE 16th Ave near sunrise and federal highway.

Any information you can provide will be most appreciated.

Victoria Park is a wonderful place. My son and his young family live there and love it. It is expensive but he thinks it worth it. I just retired and am looking for a 2 br apt there. I have visited several times, the neighbors wave and are friendly, people walking dogs at all time of the day. Very centrally located.

Hi Raquel
I'm not sure what you consider "safe". I can only assume you mean you won't be a victim of some sort of crime. Some people think that having a large homeless population means an area is unsafe. If this is you, then that area of Victoria Park probably will feel a bit unsafe. There's a large park nearby with many homeless people around as well as just on the streets there. Also, I think NE 16th is Poinsettia Heights, not Victoria Park. It seems like a lot of places which are Victoria Park adjacent like to say it IS Victoria Park. Let's just say, it probably isn't the nicest of neighborhoods and you may encounter bars on windows and that sort of thing. Victoria Park is hit or miss when it comes to "nice" or "safe" as is much of Ft Lauderdale. It seems it is a better neighborhood the farther you go to the east and south which puts you near Las Olas.
