What City in the Fort Lauderdadle.........

1. Has the most NJ/NY Transplants and good for Singles???
2. Best for a Single 29 year old male
3. Best for Beach / Night Life.
4. Pretty Affordable.
5. My job has two offices, One in Dania, other Pompano beach...So I have to be able to drive to either office every day. 45 minutes max

I'm single and I never want kids. So crime and safety isn't my major concern. I can avoid trouble pretty well. Plus I grew up in fairly bad areas in NJ with minorities, so I'm not scared of sketchy areas. But I don't want to live in the "BIGGEST" slum in the area either...A little slummy is okay.

I just want the city with most NJ / NY transplants, and fun place for a single guy, and able to commute every day to either Dania or Pompano Beach...which every one Im called to.

True...but out of my criteria...which one would fit my parameters the best.

Probably anywhere in Ft Lauderdale itself along the beach area, Las Olas, Victoria Park, Downtown or Himmarshee area. Rent prices will probably range anywhere from about $700 for a bare bones studio apartment with no amenities up to however much you want to pay. Don't worry about not having any NJ/NY company. You'll have no trouble finding them. I read somewhere that the NY Yankees are in the top 5 most popular sports teams in Florida if that gives you any indication.

You will want to live in the Eastern areas along the beach. Fort Lauderdale is the most desirable area for young people. Live east of US1 generally, as once you go west it becomes Liberia. The hottest spots for bars and clubs are Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale Beach, downtown Hollywood, and the Hard Rock hotel and casino in Hollywood.

As for NY/NJ, that is everywhere. There is no one area that has more than another. South FL is a mix of Northeasterners and Latin America, with a few rednecks mixed in. The areas you work in aren't very far from one another, so it really makes little difference which workplace you chose. I will say that there is slightly less traffic in the Pompano Beach area than in Dania Beach because traffic on 95 gets worse the further south you go.

Than You so much for the post...you hit all of my points. A couple more questoin...

What beaches in Fort Lauderdale are the best or most popular for the young or cool people. Im not even sure if there are different beaches or different sections of Fort Lauderdale...just asking. Cause I know in Miami...the hot beach is "SOUTH BEACH".

Also, What section of Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale Beach or near there, can I get the cheapest apartments. Im not scared of sketchy people.

Glad I can help. I'm also in my 20's, so I can relate. The most popular beach by far for young people is Ft. Lauderdale Beach strip. I'm talking the area starting at the corner of A1A and Las Olas Blvd near the Elbow Room (famous bar) and going north about 10 blocks. A1A is lined with bars and restaurants facing the beach. Its like what you see on tv shows like Burn Notice. That is the hottest area and where all of the Spring Break stuff goes on. I'm not suggesting you participate in Spring Break, but the rest of the year its packed with young people, good looking girls in bikinis, etc. The other good thing about Ft. Lauderdale is that all of the other beaches are good/fun too, just not as crazy as the Ft. Lauderdale strip. Now, the Ft. lauderdale strip is not as crazy as South Beach either, and there are no topless women in Ft. Lauderdale, although I've seen a few on rare occasions, lol. South Beach is X-Rated, Ft. Lauderdale Beach is R-rated, and the other beaches in Broward are like NC-17 rated. By comparison, beaches on the west coast of FL or in North Carolina or NYC are G-rated, lol.

You asked if there are different beach areas or sections- the answer is Yes. As I said, the Ft. Lauderdale strip only goes 10-20 blocks. Fort Lauderdale Beach (the city) goes about 10 miles. There are good beaches all up and down the coast. Its just that there are many private condos lining the coast on other parts of the beaches. There are still public beaches every 1/2 mile or so, but they are a bit quieter than the strip. Pompano Beach to the north and Hollywood to the South are also vibrant beaches. You also have small towns on the beach like Lauderdale By The Seas, Deerfield Beach, Hallandale Beach, and Dania Beach.

On a typical Saturday or Sunday anywhere on the coast of Broward County, the beaches are swamped with people. Even during the week they are semi-crowded. The weather is just so warm here most of the year. Even in the coolest months the beaches are usually crowded. Its not like NYC or parts of the NE where the beaches are desolate once it gets cold.

As far as Las Olas, "cheap" is like an oxymoron there. But you are from NY/NJ, so everything probably seems cheap by comparison. Las Olas is a rather small neighborhood of a handful of luxury highrise condos, some smaller apartment buildings, and a bunch of bars and restaurants lined on Las Olas Blvd. To the west and north of Las Olas is some rough ghetto areas. To the East are some neighborhoods with pricey homes- Rio Vista and Victoria Park. To the south is a courthouse and a bunch of law offices.
