I wanna goto to the beach at the end of oct. I usually stay right in ft lauderdale or lauderdale by the sea. I was looking at hotel prices and looks like they have some sweet deals right on the beach in Deerfield and pompano beach. Can anyone tell me about these two places,, nightlife, restauraunts, area, beaches etc. 40 yr old single male here

In terms of the actual beach, both Pompano and Deerfield are fine. However, neither will offer the nightlife, amenities, food, and entertainment that Fort Lauderdale Beach offers.

Deerfield beach is a smaller beach community where there are SOME restaurants, bars, etc... but nothing too major. The beach is nice as well.

Pompano is more high-rise hotel and apartments on th beach without any real central area for nightlife.
I would venture to say Deerfield may be better than Pompano in terms of a bit more of a centrally located "night life-ish" area.

Agreed, the bars and restaurants by Deerfield Beach are pretty fun, with a younger crowd than Pompano. The Deerfield beach has a reputation for being good for surfing (as Florida beaches go), so the crowd tends to be younger around Deerfield.

Is Deerfield similar to lauderdale by the sea?

Not really. Deerfield is a small strip along the beach with some hotels clustered in there. Lauderdale By The Sea is more spread out and has more highrise condos.

Lauderdale By the Sea does not allow highrise condos. The town has a 5-story limit for construction along the beach. You're probably thinking of the Galt Mile area of Ft Lauderdale, just south of LBTS, or the beachfront area of Pompano which is just north.
