I agree.
If money's no object, Las Olas is the place to be.
Near the beach, shopping, restaurants, walkability, beautiful scenery

Which city would you choose from the list below if money was no object and your looking for the best of everything...

Weston
Plantation
Davie
Cooper City
Southwest Ranches
Hollywood
Wilton manners
Pembroke Pines
Ft. Lauderdale
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
Lauderhill
(If I left out an area that I should consider, please mention it)

Thanks for all the insight!!!
East Fort Lauderdale, off the intracoastal, would be my #1 choice considering your condition of money being no object. Dining (everything from THE TOP to bottom), shopping (Galleria, many specialty shops), entertainment (close to downtown, IMAX, performing arts, indie movie houses, parks, beach, marinas), private schools (Cardinal gibbons, Pine Crest, St. Thomas).

Southwest Ranches/Plantation Acres would be #2. Near the shopping of Sawgrass (not so high end) and Pines (a bit more upscale), alot of great open area parks and ballfields (Markham Park is loaded with so many great activities), and private schools such as American Heritage and Arch. McCarthy. What you give up on the east (which is higher end dining, shopping, performing arts, marinas) you get in the form of space (acres) to spread out and do more on your own land, while still having access to big-city amenities (albeit a comparatively lower standard). Good accessibility to 595/75.

Really, it depends on what you are looking for. Broward County spans east to west, North to South and a lot of areas are divided up throughout it. For beach access, your best bets are anywhere from Fort Lauderdale (I am partial to Colee Hammock and Victoria Park for the downtown and beach convenience); closer to the south end is Hallandale Beach or Hollywood, heading north is Pompano, Lighthouse Point, and Lauderdale by the Sea. Head out west and you're looking at more land, such as Weston, Coral Springs, Sawgrass/Sunrise, Parkland. Older homes are the norm in areas like Plantation, Davie and Cooper City. Really, consider what you want/need to be close to and that will help narrow down an area!

Best of luck!

Actualy Sawgrass Mills Mall has a large wing of shops that have high end merchandise. I believe they are or have expanded that section within the last couple of years. The mall has 2,000,000+ sq. ft.

I have lived in Broward for 22years. Hollywood beach sucks full of losers. Ft Lauderdale Beach is quite the tourist attraction but u still get the bums. Now a true beach haven is Deerfield Beach east of the inercostal a safe family bum free beach with surfing on the north side of the pier tots and familys on the south. The restaurants are great, with prices ranging from cheep to expensive, people watching amazing. I lived on a1a south of Hillsboro Blvd for 2 years i will own a house on the island just a matter of time. Boca Raton a bike ride away or cheep cab. Hands down the Best of Broward and maybe S Florida if its beach life you're looking for.

It really gets left out for some reason on this website, but I really recommend looking at Coconut Creek as well. I like it much much much better than Coral Springs. The northern half is nice, the areas around Margate can be less nice, but still are not that bad.

The OP is talking about where to live if money is no object. Coconut Creek/Margate are ok but not "money is no object" places.

We currently live in Plantation Acres. I love it here. We have lots of space and are close to whatever we want to do. Our kids go to American Heritage and most of my neighbors kids go to AHS or other private schools. I like SW Ranches also but its a little further from Fort Lauderdale.

If you want to use public schools Weston and Parkland are nice. They are typical manicured suburbs but the houses are nice and the communities are lovely. In Weston the houses are very close together in most of the neighborhoods. Even in the higher end areas the houses are on small lots.

If you want the best the city has to offer any of the nicer Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods are really nice.

I think it really depends on your personality.

I do live here. But if money is no object then it means I can buy a mansion and send my kid to private school. So probably as others have said, close to Las Olas.
