I am a new Yorker looking to buy a condo in the ft.Lauderdale and am wondering what the low end price would get me. I'm not looking to spend much more than 100k so I know my options will be limited. I have visited the area a few times and liked what the area offers. I know I will not be getting beachfront for that price but can I get within a few miles? How is the neighborhoods once away from the main strip? I only know of the areas by the shore as that is the areas I have stayed at. I've been told for the amount I want to spend I should look further north where areas will not be as congested and more played back. I am currently 48 years old and my wife and I are looking to purchase something now and keep it as a second home to use as a getaway place throughout the winters and eventually retire there in about 10 years. I enjoyed the lifestyle...restaurants,bars,shopping and of course the beach! Retirement for me is not sitting back on a rocking chair and so this is why I liked this area. But are there other areas with what I'm looking for that would get me closer to the shore in my price range but still have the lifestyle I'm looking for. Thank You.

You can find condos in your price range in Fort Lauderdale area, very close to the beach or even on the beach... For example in Lauderdale by the Sea, Fort Lauderdale proper, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach... Or if you want to go closer to Miami - in sunny Isles, Surfside...
