Any good suggestions for towns in the Ft Lauderdale area, which have safe suburbs for young families and commutable to Sunrise, FL? I am not interested in public schools as I plan to send my kids to private/Catholic schools. Any helpful insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Yes there are many. Sunrise itself is a good area by what you're describing. Weston, Coral Springs, Parkland, Cooper City, Davie (western half), Plantation (west of Turnpike), and Pembroke Pines (western half) come to mind as good areas if you're looking for a suburb with a typical single family home neighborhood. Coincidentally, these areas also have good public schools, but you don't care about that. The downside of these areas is that they are located further west away from the beaches. If you want to live in a condo on the beach or a home closer to the ocean, there are many areas for that as well.

Weston and Plantation are a no-brainer, since they are safe and right next door to Sunrise.
