Is there a place/street that is similar to South Beach in Fort Lauderdale with hotels, restaurants, bars, beaches where you can just walk? Where do tourists go when visiting Fort Lauderdale?

You might try Los Olas and see what you think...

North of the Los Olas Blvd on A1A there are shops, hotels, and restaurants for about 2 miles and the beach is right across the street. It's not like South Beach, but it's kind of what you were asking for.

Here is a Google maps link in that area https://maps.google.com/maps?q=505+N...ed=0CC4Q8gEwAA You can zoom in on the street view and look around.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is very walkable, with bars, restaurants and small hotels -- although the atmosphere doesn't have much in common with South Beach.

Fort Lauderdale Beach is the best place for you. It is nothing compared to South Beach in sheer size, but still a similar setup. Lots of hotels, bars, and restaurants right along the beach. The actual beach during the day feels like South Beach minus the topless women. Lots of young people, packed, good looking women, etc.

The nightlife is just mehhh, you'll get bored of it after 1 night. There are a handful of bars such as Fat Tuesdays, Lulu's Bait Shack, Elbow Room, Dirty Blondies, and Exit 66. I was out there recently on a Friday night and it was like a ghost town. Half of the places were closed and nobody in the bars that were open. The better area for nightlife is Las Olas. It is a short, cheap cab ride about 1-2 miles away. It is much more vibrant and has nicer bars.

While in Fort Lauderdale, what other places/cities are worth the visit within driving distance (day trip)? I have already been to Hollywood, Key West, Miami Beach, Miami and Naples.

Palm Beach is within reach, Worth Avenue is $uper nice.

Delray Beach is great (if you get there visit Boston's on the Beach | Food, Fun, Live Music!)

Boca

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea (very nice pier and Aruba Beach Cafe is great too)
