My husband and I are moving to Fort Lauderdale for his job and we are looking at Lauderdale Harbor, Rio Vista, and the Las Olas areas.

We are empty nesters, both professionals, have friends that already live in Rio Vista.

Any imput? Familiar with all three areas. Just wondering if there is something I should consider and we will be renting.

Rio vista all the way. It's quite walkable and close to enough good restaurants and logistical stops. Also, its close enough to Las Olas to bike/walk if you don't mind the tunnel, which I don't. There are many beautiful houses to boot. The houses around las olas, while also nice, are smaller in general. If it were me it would be a toss up between las olas and rio vista. keep in mind, I'm recently married and in my early 30s. I'm over the worst of my party days and now relish a little space and quiet though. I definitely still like to go out a bit.

Thank you guys for your feedback! Any reason Rio Vista over Las Olas area? Is that Colee Hammock?

So many people copied my house in Rio Vista that I don't enjoy thinking about it, but Rio Vista is decent.
For anyone who is wondering:

Colee Hammock is not Rio Vista. It's on the north side of Las Olas blvd. and a great little neighborhood. Las Olas, Colee Hammock and Rio Vista are so close that there's not a lot of differentiation. It will mostly come down to whether you want a single family home, or a condo/townhouse. Also, if you're renting, I don't imagine there will be a lot of options in Rio Vista.

Thanks guys! Found a wonderful condo a half block off Las Olas. We didn't want a house so our options in Rio Vista were limited.

We are thrilled!!

This is the house this 19 year old poster lives in with his family who pay the bills and support him. He claims to own an airplane too but it's probably a Lego Plane like the ones on his home page and he works at mcDonalds making minimum wage.
