If anyone can suggest a complex or sites to look at.. I am a young female senior hopefully moving to Del ray beach/Fort Lauderdale region (I'm gay) I wanted to rent a cottage, but it is looking as though I will be forced to find an over 55 complex .. so many are apartments and I am coming from a large N.E. house.. so I need a ground floor with grass (pets) I saw some things listed.. but in very dubious neighborhoods..
any ideas? THX !

I always use yellowkeyrealty.com to look up available properties in areas I am interested in. Wilton Manors is very gay friendly (if that is what you are seeking) as is the more upscale Las Olas area both in the Fort Lauderdale area. Just type in the areas you wish to live, tick buy or rent and then you will find lots of places and prices and then once you find what you seek, then you might also wish to narrow it down to zip code.

Good luck and welcome in advance to Florida.

Did nycamberlay make any decision, and how do you like where you moved?

I too am lesbian young senior hoping to move to Delray Beach. I have been told that Rainberry Bay community has other lesbians; that Delray Beach has some lesbian community, but I have no idea what that means nowadays. I am leaning towards a single floor condo, but will miss gardening.

I would love more information about cottages vs 55+ complex

I don't think I want the burden of an old house though. I visited Lake Worth but it seemed so depressed with all the run down homes in forclosure, that even the good areas like Parrot Cove just seemed to be pockets in a run-down town that was not flourishing, despite the new beach casino/restaurant/pool.

I like the idea of living within 30 min drive of Ft Lauderdale for things to do; so I'm not looking at Jupiter etc
