I recently moved back down to Florida after living in NY for a few years & my boyfriend & I are currently living in his parents house but we're saving up to get our own place together. We live in Coral Springs but both work in Davie. We really hate the commute as we have to take University south & the traffic is something we're tired of dealing with.

Needs:
Close to work (near Nova Southeastern University)
Under $750/month for a 1BR.
Safe & low crime area.

You won't find anything in that criteria. Maybe you should consider living with his parents another year and renting.

Unfortunately Nolefan34 is correct, there isn't anything in your current price point that would meet your criteria.

Best of luck.

I don't have any suggestions as far as housing. But commuting..have you tried either taking 869 (sawgrass) or the turnpike? They are longer mileage-wise but move faster. Once the construction of the reversible lanes on 595 is compete in 2014, this should be even better.

My kids are frequently involved in musical performances that involve me getting them to Nova during the height of rush hour. They also attend school in Plantation and Weston. University is the worst way to go at peak times and even during the day. It's going to be even worse starting now during snowbird season. It's stop and go all the way down to Plantation at 595 and then it's just stop as it bottlenecks at 595. University is great though, after about 10:15 at night. The lights are timed so well that you can make it (doing the speed limit!) all the way from the intersection of University and 595 to University and Sample without hitting a red light.

Also, if you are commuting at peak times, no matter where you are going, leaving ten minutes earlier than usual can make a tremendous difference in the time and quality of your commute.

To the OP: There are a couple of places that might work for your criteria. I do not know why the others would tell you otherwise. Feel free to direct message me and I'll send you the addresses and you can see if the area works for you first.
