The part of Miramar is going to be important...

Anything east of Flamingo Rd is going to be cheaper - but I'm not a fan of the area. (and that's where I live)

One suggestion.... make sure you don't have to go anywhere near the Miramar Parkway / I-75 overpass during rush hour.

What is going on there lately? I pass by Miramar on I-75 going home from work, and the last few days (since the holidays), the northbound exit ramp is backed up well onto I-75 (which even impacts the through lanes). They really need to build that Pembroke Road overpass, which would take pressure off both Miramar Pkwy and Pines Blvd. I lived near there in 2006-2007 and again temporarily in 2010 (due to Chinese drywall), glad I'm not there now!

My hubby may be getting employed with Spirit so we would want/need to be somewhat close to the airport. Spirit's address is on Executive Way. We would be moving from out of state and can only reference so much on google maps. We are in our early 50's, empty nesters. Hoping to find a safe area especially if I have to be by myself overnight.
Ralanprod - you said the cheaper area on Flamingo is not that great. Can you say why?

Thanks.

Thanks. Well my PERSONAL opinion, others will be different I am sure. Have friends that live there right off of 75 near Miramar Pkwy. They speak Spanish & English fluently so they are happy. We lived just north of there in Weston from 99-06. Would not recommend Miramar in this case. The commute will be terrible going South on 75 in the AM, but I would live further north if I were you. Even Pembroke pines would be better option. Do not live down there anymore.
Good luck

I live in West Miramar, (West of I75) in Sunset Lakes. It is beautiful and has some SFH rentals. Actually many SFH rentals west of I75. The area is safe, has great shopping. Easy commute to either FLL or MIA. Ignore those that say you need to speak English. I do not and have lived here for 6 years now. Most everyone speaks English even if they are from Venezuela, Cuba or wherever. Most are very educated. Plenty of born/raised in the USA too. Now Miami-Dade that is another story.

I assume you mean the Fort Lauderdale Airport and not Miami. What made you decide on Miramar? There are many other areas near the airport you could consider as well, including Hollywood, Dania Beach, Pembroke Pines..........
