I'm moving to Ft. Lauderdale in April and I'd like to rent a reasonable efficiency or studio on the beach. I don't plan on doing any cooking so I don't need a kitchen. I drive to work at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport once a week, so I won't be commuting every day; however, I would like to live within one (1) hour of the airport.

I would like to live on a part of the beach where things are "happening" like bars and clubs as I would like to eventually find some bartending work part-time.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I should start looking?

What is your budget? That will tell you where you can afford to live.

$800-$1000/mo for an efficiency, $1100-$1300 for a studio

You should be able to find tons of those types of places right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach. Also on Hollywood Beach. Both are very close to FLL airport.

Actually there aren't too many. I found a few along the beach in "motel style" buildings but they had lots of shady characters in them. I looked in the Hollywood Beach area.

I think it's illegal to have a rental without a kitchen, unless it's a motel.

Did you look on Craigslist or in an online paper, or NewTimes? Just sayin' cos maybe somebody has a little cottage or something behind the house...

When I was searching I came across quite a few studios but they were a bit above your price range. Could you swing 1500*1800 for a nice studio?

Agree with Hollywood Beach and Lauderdale By The Sea.
