Hi! I will be moving soon to Fort Lauderdale and I'm trying to find a good neighborhood to live. I'm looking to live between North Lauderdale, Pampano Beach, Oakland Park and Lauderhill. Thank in advance.

Hi privette,

Where are you coming from? What is it you are looking for? I grew up in North Lauderdale and work in Oakland Park, so I'm very familiar with those areas. You have to be very careful in selecting within those locales so let me know or I can even recommend other cities around those.

If crime statistics are a factor the link below may be of some help. Of course there are good parts and bad parts of every town, but living in Broward I can tell you the perception of the towns you mentioned is can be negative.

Personally, out of the towns you listed I would only live in Pompano east of A1A. Of course that comes with a huge price.

Opinions might be a starting point for data, but can be skewed (like mine), make sure you visit those areas yourself, but each one of those towns you listed does have some very bad areas so be careful if you are driving around.

Thanks, SoFlaGuy and RadRexx!
I welcome any advice! I will be moving from Japan to Fort Lauderdale and wont be able to visit those areas in advance. I am looking to move near my new job, on 33rd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. I am searching for an affordable apartment but I am concerned about crime levels. I saw a lot of condos and apartments in the area, but sure are in a bad neighborhood. If you can give some names to avoid, you will be helping me a lot.

East of A1A in Pompano? Don't be ridiculous, that's the lifeguard stand on the beach. There's more areas than that. But that's why I would need to know more about privette's circumstances.

Well you can take Lauderhill off your list. Fort Lauderdale has good spots around that neighborhood, but very pricey. 33rd Avenue, is that NE 33rd Ave off the beach?

As Privette is looking in N. Lauderdale, Oakland Park, and Lauderhill, it's probably NW 33rd Avenue.

Privette - I think it's most important to just use this board as a single data point. Please do not base your decisions on input solely from this board.

You left off Pompano, which is what prompted me to ask. privette is here for information, not your assumptions or assertions.

hi

i agree with rad all the way......i used to work on 33ave myself...the people in my office ....25 of us did not live in any of those cities you mentioned....some are in weston...some in pembroke pines..some in coral springs...some in boca...all decent cities so look a little further away and you should be ok...i was coming from hallandale...only 18 miles...30 minutes...jump on i-95. good luck.
