Hi folks,

I am entertaining a job offer in Sunrise, FL and I wanted to get your feedback regarding possible locations where to rent a 1-2 bedroom apartment.

About me: Mid-thirties, single, no kids, liberal. Rent + utilities budget under $2,000. I have lived many years abroad in different parts of the world and enjoy multicultural cities, I am also fluent in Spanish. I just mentioned that because reading through some threads I know that some people dont like living in a town with so much diversity - I do. Would like to keep the communte below 30 mins.

I am more inclined to living in a more urban environment, closer to restaurants, bars and the beach.

Security of course is a priority, although I understand that living in a larger town such as Fort Lauderdale will most likely be more insecure than in the nicer parts of Sunrise / Plantation but I will be open to that trade-off.

Thanks for your input

Jim

Not sure if Las Olas/downtown Fort Lauderdale will fit into your budget, but otherwise it has everything you're looking for.

You will fit in South Florida as it is the most liberal part of state and very reliably blue every single election and yea Las Olas area and Downtown are the hot areas for young professionals because of the amenities. Your budget is a little low but if you do some research I'm pretty sure you could find a place.

Thank you guys. I much appreciate your input. I will be travelling there this upcoming weekend to check the city before I make a decision (great time to escape the Northeast too).

Are there any particular complexes or towers you have in mind that I should visit in this limited time I will be down there?

Merci!

Your welcome and far as complexes go I know their building some new ones but you may want to get a realtor to help you specifically. Good luck with your search and I hope you find what your looking for.
