Hello Everyone!

I just found this site today. Great people and good vibes here all around.

I'm relatively new to South Florida and currently rent in the Dolphin Isles area of Fort Lauderdale.

I travel a lot for work, and only spend a couple of weeks at a time in FLL.

Due to many life changes, I've been taking care of my dad and his health has improved tremendously. He likes to walk near the beach and Hugh Taylor State Park. I also rescued a cat and nursed him to good health.

I'm now looking for buy a condo mostly for my dad and cat. I will continue to stay one or two weeks at a time with him to make sure he's ok. He's 82 years old.

My work situation will remain the same, so I can basically live anywhere.

My dad likes Broward county and he's very close to his doctor who has been amazing and supportive. The doctor's office is in Pompano.

I only know the area around where I live currently and need some advice regarding where to buy a condo/apartment.

My budget is $200k and I'm planning on putting down 50%.

2 bedroom would be ideal.

Near park/walking areas, grocery shopping, safe would be ideal as well. We don't need to be close to the beach but wouldn't mind.

I think the above opens up a few nice possibilities, but again since I'm not familiar with the area. I'm clueless at the moment.

We need to move before April '15.

So far, Coconut Creek seems like a choice worth investigating since it's close to my dad's doctor in Pompano.

Any ideas and advice is much appreciated.

Best.

-E

Cypress Bend is one located right across from shopping, Palm Aire might be another, you can find some at this link to give you some ideas.

Thanks so much! I will also check out these areas later today. Never been there before.

Another great area in Coconut Creek is The Township -- beautifully landscaped and great area to walk and enjoy the beauty. Lots of condos available -- and I suspect all well within your price range. Lots of families and retirees -- a nice mix, and a safe area. You're such a good son to take care of his father!

Thank you wizrap! Sounds great! Much appreciated. I will definitely drive around this weekend to get a feel for The Township area.

I will be away for the entire month of December so luckily I'm starting my search early. Don't want to wait until last minute to move.

Best.
