Both the cities of Wilton Manors and Oakland Park are vying to try to get a passenger train stop built along the railroad line but it seems that so far, only one stop can be built because the areas are so close to one another.
I think Oakland Park's elected city officials should take into consideration that Oakland Park Boulevard, unless you're into pawn shops and eating at fast food restaurants and walking along a 6 lane highway-like heavily trafficked street pretty much devoid of trees that city officials ordered cut down years ago, doesn't have much of anything to offer to a tourist and should concede and pull out of the running against Wilton Manors for a passenger train station because people getting off a train in Wilton Manors can dine at a variety of nice restaurants and cafes all within a short walking distance from the railroad tracks that aren't own by corporations that make their properties look just about the same everywhere, stroll along nice tropical landscaping on the sidewalks and under trees put in by the local businesses and which is something that tourists come to Florida to see instead of the sometimes dreary landscapes of the North during the winter months, and where people can get off the train and enjoy the open nightlife environment that's been created in Wilton Manors that welcomes Straight people to intermingle with Gays and see that even though Gays are usually better dressed and have better music in their clubs, that Gays in Wilton Manors are just like everyone else but they live, work and entertain themselves in a city where Wilton Drive is much more attractive and people would be more inclined to pay the railroad money to take a train to rather to than Oakland Park Boulevard.

All Aboard Florida projects higher utilization rates for a potential Dixie/OPB station than one in Wilton Manors. Me? I think the idea of a passenger rail going to Funky Buddha is wonderful. I bet Oakland Park's commission agrees.
