Former Miami-Dade residents, why did you move to Broward County? Do you regret your decision?

I actually did the opposite.
Moved from broward down to Miami..... for a job.

It's more crowded down in Miami for sure. Traffic is worse.
However, there is more to do. More options for nightlife, museums, shows, differing kinds of neighborhoods i.e.. Wynwood, gables, the grove, etc..... broward seemed all the same outside of lauderdale by the sea.... and idk..

Still get back up to broward about once a month. It's nice. One thing I noticed...Broward seems a lot more "American" than Miami lmao.

I moved to South Florida in the late 70's and originally rented in West Broward near work for a year. My next job was in Miami off of the Palmetto and I moved to North Miami to be closer to work. After about 3 or so years of living in that area I moved back to west Broward even though by that time I was not only working near the Palmetto, but I was also going to night school at University of Miami in Coral Gables a couple of times a week.

I moved because I got tired of North Miami -- my place was broken into, I was harassed by a peeping Tom, the apartment manager where I rented was a real jerk and I just felt everything was going downhill. I was sick of Miami and didn't want to consider any other part of Dade County. I guess you could say living in North Miami tainted all of Miami for me.

I don't regret moving to West Broward even though I had a horrible commute for a couple of years to Coral Gables and my job. I enjoy life in suburbia. The area is well taken care of, I feel safe, and if I want to experience Miami I can always drive over and spend the day, but to be honest, outside of going to a Dolphins game here and there, I don't really visit Dade County all that much now.

I needed to live in an area where my kids could get a quality public education in grades K-12. I was "born and raised in the County of Dade," but just couldn't hold out hope that things were going to get better any time soon. Cooper City has been a remarkable experience. Now when I visit friends in Miami, I wonder what took me so long to get away.
