I'm looking for recommendations for a 1 bedroom, pet-friendly housing within about a 20 minute commute of Citrix in Fort Lauderdale.

What's important:

*safe - Single female, 40's, I need to be comfortable walking my dogs alone at night
*pet-friendly - two small dogs, both are around 20 lbs.
*rent - $1200 - $1700, but would pay a little more for perfect place

I'd love to have a small outdoor space, such as a patio and tile or hardwood floors.

Thank you!

Have you looked at The Township in Coconut Creek? Although not all rentals will allow dogs, there are some that do. Very lovely, well- maintained area.

You might look into the Residences at Bayview on U.S. 1 at the northern end of Fort Lauderdale. My wife and I recently visited a friend who moved there and were impressed. It's got all the amenities you could possibly want, including a building-wide security system, and allows dogs as long as they aren't pitbulls or other "aggressive" breeds. There's also a dog-walking area on site. The apartments there would fit into your price range (although probably at the higher end) and Citrix's headquarters are about five miles away. You're also close to the beach and a lot of restaurant and shopping options.

Port Royale is in the same area and would work for you, too, but there's a lot of construction going on there right now and there may be more noise and dust than you care to deal with.

I am actually pretty impressed with Cypress Bend Condos... I know someone who lives there.

It looks nicely maintained.

It is in Pompano Beach, on Powerline Rd, just north of McNab.

Congrats! you're not among those 1200 employees/contractors that got laid off last week. I'm an IT guy and I do have a couple of close friends (an architect and an engineer) that still work at Citrix and they both live near by. One of them live in "Cypress Bend Condos" as mentioned by ruski and it's indeed a nice, dog-walking friendly community, but he's now in the process of buying and he wants to buy where a lot of his co-workers live, which is in the beautiful golf community of Palm Aire country club (across the street) - even nicer than Cypress Bend Condos.

I was going to mention Palm Aire too, but thought I'd start with Cypress Bend first

BTW, this is my current view from my window at work. The building on the far left is Citrix. The highrises on the far right - Cypress Bend Condos.

The lighter colored highrises slightly to the left of those are Palm Aire.

It was 900 layoffs...*globally*. Around 200 in FTL, however there are likely more coming (offshoring).

hmmm... I have a few former coworkers who went across the street (to Citrix) in recent years... I wonder how they are doing.

200 is a lot for FTL to lose...
