I have been looking at Florida for a place to relocate to for quite some time now. I am wondering how Hollywood Florida is as for a place to live. I know its right on the beach which is a big thing for me. I am wondering is it a safe place to live in? How are jobs, or is better to work in Miami and living in Hollywood? How is the rent? I saw a bunch of places for under 700.00...any good?

Mark

You should post in Broward about Hollywood and your price range will get you more north of Miami you go just because its so expensive as far as housing goes.

Hollywood is a very nice place. The person above isn't considering that we are talking about broward, not miami-dade. That price range seems pretty normal for that area. As you get closer to the water you may have a hike in price but nothing near miami beach, brickell downtown miami etc... If you plan on the suburbs you will like it. I also recommend pembroke pines if your going to be around there. Very nice area and getting very developed.

Only a relatively small part of Hollywood is on the beach. Most of it is much further inland. And much of the parts that are further inland aren't that nice at all. Its hit or miss. Some blocks in certain areas have really nicely maintained older homes. Others parts are pretty bad. If you're seeing ads for $700 is probably an efficiency-type place in a seedy area. If being on the beach is a big thing for you anywhere in southeast Florida these days you're going to need more than $700...a LOT more!
