Haven't been to Ft Lauderdale in a few years, but am heading back this spring. Was wondering if they still turn an eye to people bringing the fat tuesday drinks onto the beach? I am not a reckless spring break college kid, but I do enjoy having those drinks while laying out on the beach. What's the word?

Yes, alcohol is against the rules on the sand. I've never been bothered while having drinks in discreet containers but wouldn't take a bottle or big take home cup to the sand during a busy time. Enjoy your trip!

Beach Place where Fat Tuesday's is located has security at all entrances and exits so you can't take drinks out of beach place. Also during spring break Ft Lauderdale police officer's walking the beach area looking for people drinking so its not a good idea. I'm not saying people don't drink on the beach but I have see the police stand on the steps of beach place and observe the beach for violations.

It's a bogus and stupid law. But easy to get around. Just buy bottles of soda, drink a bit, and top off with rum. You have rum and coke and nobody has a clue. You can make all sorts of drinks this way. Use water bottles, etc.
