I am a salaried employee that works 40 hour weeks. I do 8 hours a day from mon-fri. I was trying to google it, but did really find any solid information.

you need to be there 9hrs as in a 8 to 5 job. One hour is for lunch so you work 8 hrs per day

Only 40 hours as a salaried employee? What kind of company do you work for?!!!

As far as your question, It does not, those are working hours, breaks are not included in those hours.

Is this somehow specific to Florida?

The short answer is no. IIRC, an unpaid meal break of about 15 minutes is required if working more than six? hours but that is about it for salaried employees. I was a salaried employee in Florida for a while. My hours were whatever was needed - sometimes as low as forty, more often closer to fifty-five. If you are punching a time clock as a salaried employee, you certainly don't have a true management position.

Entirely untrue. No meal break is required or guaranteed in Florida. And you also got it wrong, that a break of about 15 minutes - depending on circumstances, should almost always be paid. Breaks of 20 minutes or less are not considered a bona-fide meal period and should almost always be paid.

I used to let my employees clock out for a quick smoke break. But since the law says I can't make them clock out - no more smoke breaks. Thank the government, don't blame me

I stand corrected (thank-you). I was conflating under 18 rules and stuff from other states.
