My husband will be working in Oakland Park area. We are in our late 40's coming from North of Boston. We will be looking for an area 15-20 minute drive to the beach. We are looking to rent a townhome, singe family home or a duplex for the first year with a price range of $1500/mth. What areas are decent that will fit that price range? We also have 2 small dogs. A 30 minute drive from his work to our place is the furthest we want.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you!

I see that you'd posted this a few months back.
Has anything changed on your end from your post back then?
I'm pretty sure you're going to get the same advice.

The areas recommended last time will still apply.

Any thoughts on Delray Beach?

Anything in your price range there would be ghetto, if you could even find something, and the drive to Oakland Park, especially during season, won't be what you're looking for.
For your price range you could get a small one bedroom apartment in Delray - in a so-so area.

When does your husband start his job?

Might find something in Pompano, but as far as single family homes go, for $1500 you're not going to find much in a good area unless it's pretty small.

There are some nice townhomes in Dania Beach east of US-1 and North of Sheridant St that could probably rent for that price. It's close to the beach and maybe 20 minutes from Oakland Park.

I really don't know much about Delray, so can't comment on that.

I'd stay where you are until you can afford what you truly want - don't settle.

I looked in that area on Realtor.com and found a really nice efficiency for just over $1K.
