Hello All,

I'm visiting Ft Lauderdale for the first time next month and need early-morning transport between South Middle River area (just south of Wilton Manors) and the airport.

Looks like a 7 mile straight shot down Rte 1, but would the I-95 be faster? Any safety or reliability issues during off peak hours with taxi vs Uber? Big price difference?

Thanks.

A taxi may have a wait and cost double what Uber would and Uber will be there in a few minutes. Usually I 95 is faster but you are not driving so don't worry about it.

I drove for Uber for a month and a half but I'm in Lee county and it was too slow here to make money. I used it a few times to pick up my car from the mechanics, all the drivers were nice

Also the airport is between Rt 1 and I 95 so once you get on 95 there are no lights and traffic moves faster. You can always request 95 to a taxi or Uber and don't forget to tip, especially with luggage.

Yellow Cabs are absolutely disgusting, old, tired Crown Victorias. Uber all the way.

Uber or Lyft is the way to go, as everyone has mentioned. Its quicker and cheaper IMO...just be sure to ask an airport representative where the "uber pick up" section is, as of recent they have designated pick up areas just like Taxis, not necessarily right in front of your terminal as they can get a fine. Also, once there, you can compare and request the i-95 or us-1 route on the app.

Welcome to Sunny Fort Lauderdale, safe travels!
