I'm moving to Weston (not Bonaventure) from upstate NY in 1 month. I'm trying to find ways to lower my utility bills.

1. One easy way is to get rid of the phone line and get a dry loop (naked) DSL. Do they offer it?

I'm also exploring cable internet but upload speed is as important to me as download speed. It seems cable is also more expensive, if I can get naked DSL.

2. My wife insists of getting a phone line. Has anyone used MagicJack in Florida? Any suggestions on VOIP?

Check out the Comcast "triple play" rate. Broadband, VOIP and digital cable. 33 dollars each. I have NOT heard of naked DSL around here.

I called ATT and Earthlink DSL only to find out that Meadows is too far from the CO to get DSL. My research shows the CO is at Saddle Club and Indian Trace. A friend of mine living in San Messina uses Bellsouth DSL. I don't understand. San Messina is further than Meadows and Bellsouth is now ATT.

Here's an update.

I found my neighbors (3 doors down to the left and right) have Bellsouth DSL. So I called Bellsouth but they say dry loop DSL is not available. They can't confirm whether I'll get DSL, even if I have a phone line.

I'll probably have to pay $45 for cable internet.
