Hi,

I'm relocating to Southern Florida and I know insurance costs are higher than other areas of the country. I was wanting to know if homeowners insurance would be cheaper the further inland you go? Towns like Coral Springs, Tamarac, and Sunrise would it be cheaper to insure a home? If so, would it be much of savings or not that big of a deal?

Thank you.

First off, check the evacuation zone and flood plain zone. Then check the map for location of sink holes. See if any are near your area.

Too many factors to consider, including the ones mentioned above. Age of roof, wind mitigation (storm impact windows, doors, hurricane shutters, etc.), security system, type of construction (concrete block, wood) etc. etc. etc.

Good luck. Our former insurance company, Universal, just applied to drop about 20,000 policies in the state. We’re now up in Gainesville and because of our location inland, our HO rates were cut by about half.
