I(25M) have the opportunity to sublet a condo in Galt Mile from a retired guy for 4 months. It is right on the ocean and based on that seems like a great deal. The only issue is, everyone in the building seems way older, and it is also stereotype as an area for retired people. Basically I cannot get a real lease, because I am only approved to WFH for the rest of the year, so I need to find something that fits in with that timeline. I feel like that limits my options hugely outside outside of airbnb, which I do not want to continue staying in, since it is too small and impractical.

It is like a mile from FL by the sea, which I view as the nicest are in FL outside of Las Olas, albeit more suited to older people and tourists. Oakland park is inland which is an eh are, but basically everywhere in florida has a path of sketchy neighborhood somewhere within a square mile at most in seems.

Does anyone have input on what they think Galt Mile area is like for a young single person?

I think your assessment is accurate. But you’re also only about 15/20 minutes north of the Las Olas area. So you wouldn’t have far to travel for more nightlife.

One of my clients is a single guy who moved to Galt Ocean Mile when he was in his 30’s. He loved it then and loved it now; he has a kayak and goes out and catches lobster. Loves the water and the outdoors. I think it’s a good choice for you, especially since the length of the lease fits your needs.

You could do far, far worse.

Thanks. I hung out in FLBTS yesterday and I am thinking of taking it. Kind of a cool, secluded southern vibe. Very different from Las Olas.

Curious as to what you do since you mentioned clients?

I am a financial advisor. L-B-T-S is also very nice and far more laid back than Las Olas.

I think you can’t go wrong with the sublet. Who knows, you may wind up with lots of grandparents as neighbors. I know from firsthand experience how great grandparents are and how they love spoiling grandchildren. You may become the most popular tenant in the building!

Lol. And yea I mean given my timeline, it's not like I am going to get any better options. It seems walkable from that building to FLBTS even at night, not saying I really see people doing that though.

Update: I ended up taking a different place in lauderdale by the sea. The crowd is older there, but not as old, and I prefer the location to galt mile

I’m 36 years old and I rented a condo for a year on Galt Ocean. My spouse and I felt like we were discriminated for being young. We’ve had noise complaints against us even when we weren’t home. If someone littered the hallway, they came immediately to us. We ended up leaving after a year because of work, it’s a really nice place to live if you are 70 and play bridge.
