OK, here comes the good ol' crime list in order again, this time it's the most recent 2007 stats. I will even include some NC counties for good measure.
Mecklenburg County, NC (Charlotte)- 7,654.5 crimes per 100,000
Durham County, NC-6,439.3 crimes per 100,000
Duval County- 6,413.2 crimes per 100,000
Orange County- 6,397.9 crimes per 100,000
Miami-Dade County- 6,297.0 crimes per 100,000
Forsyth County, NC (Winston-Salem)- 5,970.7 crimes per 100,000
Guilford County, NC (Greensboro)- 5,845.5 crimes per 100,000
Palm Beach County- 5,033.1 crimes per 100,000
Pinellas County- 4,942.1 crimes per 100,000
Hillsborough County- 4,915.7 crimes per 100,000
Leon County- 4,841.8 crimes per 100,000
Broward County- 4,521.2 crimes per 100,000

Here is the only legitimate malcontent favorite to "get away from the crime". You still aren't necessairly away from it either, there is just less.
Wake County, NC (Raleigh/Cary)-3,266.6 crimes per 100,000

Good luck getting away from the crime in Tampa or Orlando, there is more. Enjoy anyway, or better yet, move to Raleigh.

Also, if your one who complains about sketchy transients and moved away in a year, look within yourself and try to think about how people perceived you (if you can). Like it or not, somebody in your blood line was a "third world refugee" getting spat on too, that's what America is.
