If you really want to come here , and want a good place you can afford to rent ($1500-up) in a good subdivision, by all means Plantation. And by that, I mean closer to Sawgrass Mall area. Let's say between West Broward blvd and Flamingo Rd.
Lauderhill is a big no-no. Unless you like the big chevy with the 22 inch chrome rims, noise and gold teeth, stay in Plantation. There are pockets of Lauderhill that may be the exception. It depends on what you can afford, and what kind of person you are. If education, "somewhat peaceful living", and some level of quality is what you're after, then I would go for Plantation. There are two malls surrounding you, better schools, plenty of dining options etc. As stated in one of my posts, Lauderhill is a ghetto in my opinion. The best advice I can give you is to check it for yourself, see which fits you best and then decide.

What are you saying? It's barely legible. Not to be condescending, but that Lauderhill grammar is rearing its ugly head. Take no offense.

Lauderhill is mostly black and poor (ghetto)

Plantation wins by default.
