Yes, the law was changed this year, however the Sun Sentinel has reported that the Florida Senate will be reviewing this bill due to the fact that is not enforceable. Could just be some major lobbying by the insurance companies that will grab up what new policies they can before the law is repealed. In my condo, others who don't have insurance have NOT purchased new policies, and so far, no action has been taken against them.

I didn't check your link before I posted. Seems it has already been repealed.

The condo association master policy insurance premimun will fall if every unit owner has their own type of insurance. Most likely if everyone but you have their own homeowners insurance and you held out you are costing everyone else money.

FYI... statutes were changed in 2008, then changed back. You are not required to have insurance on the contents of your home - though it is heavily recommended. Association only has responsibility to repair the drywall and the underside. If they replace your drywall due to exterior issues, then you would be responsible to paint the interior. Hope that helps.

All it takes is a fire, burst pipe, hurricane, to make a good day turn real bad.

I live in Hollywood in an 1,800 sf. ft condo and only pay $1,000.00 a year
Because some people have the funds if needed and would rather self-insure. I carry fire and flood but not wind. May I ask, what company you are with ? Thats a great price.
