I'm movin down to Broward county from Boston, MA ...I started looking at apartment complexes and things and some of them looked really good then I'd read a review and it would say to stay as far away as possible...the next review said it was like living in the Ritz Carlton...So I thought it'd be best to ask people on here. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom that has a pool and parking...I don't want to live in the hood nor do I want to live with the upper class (my budget would obviously exclude me from there...haha), but I'm looking for places in Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Dania, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano or Deerfield...

My budget for a 1 bedroom is about 900...I dont have a problem living with noise or living somewhere busy and loud (i.e. Boston) or places where English isn't the only language spoken (I am part Hispanic). I'm 23 and I love the nightlife in Boston, and I will miss it, so anywhere that has an average age around mine and/or active night live would be nice. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated...

thanks,
ke se vaya bien

Hey, I'm from Boston too. I moved down over 10yrs ago. My family lives in Florida as well so I haven't been up there in a long while. Have things changed in Boston? Everything used to close at 2a. LOL!! You'll love it here. Wish you all the best.

Its ironic-but I'm planning on doing the exact opposite of you. I'm moving FROM Broward County TO Boston. Maybe we can help eachother. I've lived in Miramar and Pembroke Pines.

This is the first time I've moved out-of-state on my own. I am a single mom of a 5yr. old and I am a part-time student with 2 jobs. Can anyone give me some advice as to HOW to even get started in Boston??? Much appreciated.

The Coconut Creek area is very nice and affordable. Also there's a few greta looking comp[lexes on West Atlantic, west of 95 near the turnpike. I believe both areas are considered Pompano Beach. The poster is right about Bayview/Coral Ridge area. At $900/mo. you should be able to find a 1 bdrm. in Lauderdale by the Sea. I lived there and it' a great place for the beach and nightlife. Your also only about 10-15 min. north of Las Olas Blvd.

I'll check out V.Verde...I'm looking probably a little more south than coconut though...more towards Pembroke area...do you know anything over there?

stay away from Miramar. Your price range will land you in sherman circle or other less desirable parts of the City. You have a better bet with Pines...but coming from Boston, you will be bored in Pines. I would recommend Hollywood Young circle area. Your 23 and you need to live it up....pines will not do that for you...Hollywood will. I was talking to a Hollywood cop yesterday who told me that crime in Miramar went up 37% from last year and that in Hollywood, it only went up 7%. I believe it as well from what I see and from what I read in the papers.

Check out Hollywood downtown. There are several rental places and it is a lively place to call home for young person. Of course it is great for me and my children as well. It is a place along the coast that you could still possibly afford with your budget. Anything else would take you out west and it can get pretty boring for a young person.

honestly if you want to live comfortly safe, your budget should be close to 1100 and watch out for those madagascar-like cockaroaches.. Pembroke Pines might be better for you
