Hello, I'm a single female, age 25, relocating to Fort lauderdale and was looking for suggestions on apartment communities I should look into.

I'm looking for something a resonable distance from the beach and downtown fort lauderdale and would like it to be gated or offer some kind of security also in one of the safer areas of fort lauderdale. A community with young professionals like myself is a plus.

Price range is $900-$1300/month.

All suggestions and advice appreciated!

What areas have gated communities. We are planning to relocated to this area.

Thank you.

West Lake seems to be a nice gated community with townhomes. Close to beach and Hollywood center. With the economy so bad, I know my friend had to drop her rental in there. She was getting 1500 two years ago, but could only rent it for 1000 this year. She has a three bedroom. So I'm sure the rental prices have dropped.

Port Royale it's on water and very close to the beach. Just north of the downtown Ft L area on Federal Hwy. It's an apt complex, renting privately is very risky now.

Here's another thread I posted to about it. I looked for many months through many scams including an actual HOMEOWNER who ripped me off for 2700 on the Hollywood beach. Took a dep for a duplex he already had a tenant in. This guy has been in Broward courts 140 times over the past few years he's a professional con artist.

Tamarac or Coral Springs west of University Dr has been safe but too long a commute to downtown and the beach imo. Over 20 minutes.
