well it's quite expensive to live here and i find it hard to make friends here, it seems like their are no middle class people here only poor and upper middle class people, no in between, i just down see the beauty anymore in south florida, i'm over it, and can't wait to get back to my hometown of the D.C. area...anyways don't mean to be so negative, it just seems like south florida is really suffering from the recession compared to most states...just my opinion

I'm not from FL, and the as farthest in SFL I've been is Tampa. We were looking at Miami or probably Ft. Lauderdale since they seem to be right on with GLBT community in the whole state of FL. Your post is helping me, actually kind of reinforcing what I already knew about FL, it's one of those states where the in between is few and far in between. Honestly, I've only been to JAX and Tampa and I wasn't impressed with either one of them. I'm thinking of going up north, I'm in Savannah right now. Anyhoo, can't help, but thanks for that post.

For some people South Florida is a great place and it works for them. For others they hate it and its not their cup of tea. To both groups I say salute! So to answer your question, I think it depends on your view point/preferences. For me personally, right now if given the chance to leave or stay I would be on the next flight out. But that's because I never ever liked it here. To each their own.

DC is a great place to live. Good luck with your move back home. I personally like it here, but I know where you are coming from. Hope everything works out for you.

Im in the fort laud area and it truly has lost it's shimmer, Im not even going to start with the people but this place is a true melting pot, and it is unfair for the average hard working person to even get a job down here especially if you only speak ENGLISH. I got laid off 2 months ago and there is absolutely nothing out there? Im willing to work for $7.00 a hour is that sad or what coming from making $60-65k the previous years. so my advice to anyone that would like to move here is if you are financially set then go for it but if not you are going to be classified like the rest of us POOR almost borderline poverty level. BTW it's 80* today and is about to rain
