Hello All! I have a kid that suffers from ADD and down here in Miami-Dade County, in our experience going through 2 schools, the educational system is ill-prepared to deal with the needs of such kids. We have been told that the school system (or maybe some schools) in Weston is much better prepared to meet his needs. Our current house rental agreement is due up soon, and we were thinking on moving up north so that our kid gets the quality education he needs. I know about private schools, but they cost a lot. Can anyone tell us more about it? Do you know of such a school that includes properly-trained personnel for such special needs? I don't mind if I have to drive to work in Coral Gables everyday, my kid comes first (some of you might say that I'm nuts, but hey, I used to live in Arkansas and drove 90 miles each way everyday to go to work, so the drive here is not so bad, even with traffic). :-) Thanks for your help.

If you have the child evaluated, you may find that he/she is eligible for special services in public school. I have found the Weston schools can do the job well. As for private school, you actually have to be more careful when there is a special need. They may be completely unprepared. You might try Kentwood Prep in Davie. They specialize in ADHD and Aspergers. They are accredited. I would be glad to answer additional questions.
