Berry - how much are you planning to spend on the house? That seems pretty big.

Well let's see.. I live in a 1300 sq apartment with vaulted 13ft ceilings and my electric bill was $170 for the past month (that's with the ac off on the cold days we had). During the summer my bill was between $250-$280 a month.

The place you mention is 3x's as big as my apartment so I'm going to guess you electric bill will be around $750-$840 a month during the summer when its hot.

I thought my bills in NJ were high..lol

Chelsa we are looking between 365k and 425k..however we do plan on Renting for a while before buying...and dh needs to land a job so while he is interviewing and has some things on the horizon, we are looking for more IT recruiters, and obviously having a job before doing the move..

I live in a 1-story 2000 sqft house in Weston. My electric bills are around $200/month in summer and $120 in winter.

Berryjuice4life.
I forgot to tell you about this. My first electric bill was $550.00. Although someone turned up the heater on the pool to 96 degrees for a day!!!!! My second bill went to $450.00. Heater in pool was only one for part of the time. This time around, pool heater is off and air has not come on. Did use heat for a night or 2. I will let you know what it is when I get the new bill. Even in the dead of winter in PA, my bill was never this high.

Ace - how cool do you keep your home in the summer? I'm planning on getting into something around 2500 sq ft. I know some people keep it on the warmer side to keep the bills low - that is why I ask.
