I'm in Hollywood and I love it. If you have kids there are plenty of activities for them in the area - YMCA, baseball/softball at the rotary park, tennis, roller hockey/skateboard park, wildcats soccer, football, etc... For the grown ups there is downtown Hollywood and the Hard Rock. PLus Hollywood hosts plenty of festivals and free concerts at the broad walk and the art park. There is a little bit of everything here. I would put Hollywood in the top 5 best!!

For me, as a tourist...

Best

1) Las Olas
2) Lauderdale-by-the-sea
3) Coral Springs/Margate (if you have kids and don't mind the 'burbs)
4) Hollywood
5) Anywhere along A1A

Worst

1-5) Anywhere between the 95 and Turnpike

LASAM, you should expand that between Dixie Hwy and Turnpike. How many great neighborhoods in Broward have you seen on the west side of Dixie Hwy?

The worst:
Broadview Park
Melrose Park
Old Plantation between Broward and Davie Blvd/Riverland Road
Sistrunk Blvd
Davie Blvd between I-95 and 441....gang land
North Lauderdale between 441 and University Drive.....I know....6....sorry but I had to mention it.

The Best:
Weston/Bonaventure
Revamped eastern Hollywood
Western Plantation
Some neighborhoods off east Sheraton ST.
I'm sure there are more, I still like western Oakland park and parts of western Sunrise.
