Who are the major employers in the Weston Area? Or - do people just commute to other areas to work?

I was told that Weston was developed because of the Cleveland Clinic (which I believe is a heart hospital) where the very famous and wealthy are among thier patients.

With that said, I believe people commute. Rarely do people get to work where they chose to live.

Cleveland Clinic came after Weston was already mostly developed. It's an offshoot of the famed Cleveland Clinic. It's basically now a brand name, takes insurance and anyone who comes through the door. The Mayo Clinic is now the one with the big name.

There are some companies who have satellite offices in Weston - there are definitely office parks, but mostly people commute to Miami, Miramar, Plantation or downtown Fort Lauderdale for work.

Cleveland Clinic, American Express, There's a drug company. There are many professionals in town and some work in Weston, while others (more) work in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. There are lots of offices in town for smaller companies. It is possible to get a job here, but you have to be prepared to work in Fort Lauderdale.

There was also Andrax pharmaceuticals, not sure if they are still in Weston.

One big employer (and ranked the best employer in the country I believe) is the Ultimate Software. Right in the middle of Weston.

Many people do commute though. I do. People commute from Weston to just about anywhere. I know people going to work in Miami (even places like Coast Guard and SouthCom), Plantation, Miramar, Fort Lauderdale, Boca.

I used to commute as far as Delray. Also I commuted to Doral for a few years. I commute to Fort Lauderdale now, although we have an office in downtown Miami too.

Generally speaking, Weston is conveniently located to commute just about anywhere in South Florida.
